49yrs old Boss makes debut goal
Written by Dave Hewitt

Seaton Burn FC seniors boss 49yr old Dave Hewitt snr, made his debut this term when new signing goal keeper Chris Cuthbertson suffered a foot injury 20 minutes from time with the Burn side trailing 4-0 with FOUR player blunders. It took the boss 5 minutes to prepare himself for the lions den but it was worth waiting for. Within minutes of coming on, with a major reshuffle of the team, after calls from ALL the lads, "WE'LL MANAGE WITH JUST THE TEN OF US". Hewitt snr ran from the half way line as Giblin made an attacking run on the right flank. A suprisingly pin point cross by Giblin left the Rutherford defence hopelessly stranded. Hewitt srn, with skills never the like seen before on the Seaton Burn turf, managed to stretch out his right leg to take control of the ball as the Rutherfod defender managed to parry the ball almost out of Hewitt's reach. Hewitt snr with all his migt took the shot of his life, which blasted past the keeper not knowing where the ball had ended. What a goal!! this piece of majic turned the game as MacDonald went on to further save embarrasment for the Burn by notching a second in the dying minutes with a left foot 35 yrd freekick. Something that he has worked on in training guided by the team Boss Hewitt snr. What a day! To cap it all Hewitt snr was rewarded by being presented with SBFC Man of the Match trophy.  Hewitt jnr was heard to remark on his fathers achievements, "I'm so proud of my Daddy".
